Although it is known that in Crete the air-landing troops did not
arrive in strength until the day following the initial parachute
attack, it is thought that the Germans would, in face of air
fighter defenses, mobile reserves, and organized land defenses, be
compelled to reinforce their parachute troops at the earliest
moment. Command will be taken over by commanders of army troops, who
will have had a large share in framing the comprehensive plan of
attack.
