A German air-borne corps was first heard of early in 1941. This was the XIth Air-Borne Corps (called by the British, XI Air Corps), which contained the 7th Air-Borne Division and the 1st Assault Regiment. The XIth Air-Borne Corps is divided into two main parts: an air-transport organization and an air-transported part. The connections between the two are flexible in the sense that transport for any one unit of troops may be variously provided by different parts of the transport organization. (See fig. 6.)
