101st Airborne Paratrooper -- U.S. Army Paratrooper, Corporal Louis E. Laird, in the
doorway of a C-47 transport plane during training for the Normandy Invasion. The photograph
was taken in the spring of 1944 at an airfield in England. The paratrooper is armed with a
bazooka anti-tank rocket launcher. The 101st Airborne Division shoulder patch is also visible.
