MacKelvie (1890–1985) January 1944 - July 1944. Gen. MacKelvie was relieved of his command and replaced by Gen. Landrum. Maj. Gen. Eugene M. Landrum (1891–1967) July 1944 - August 1944. McLain had earlier commanded the artillery in the 45th Infantry Division and the 30th Infantry Division. Gen. McLain later served as commander of XIX Corps. Maj. Gen. James A. Van Fleet (1892–1992) October 1944 - February 1945. Gen. Van Fleet earlier had served as commander of the 8th Infantry Regiment (4th Infantry Division) and assistant division commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and 4th Infantry Division.
